Quantum Computers
The British ministry of defence acquires the government's first quantum computer.
Throughout human development, we have had technological advancements that aid humans to create innovations and improvements to things that help us in our daily basis.
This is not the case for quantum computing, quantum computing caters to very specific and complex needs of analyzing huge sets of data extremely quickly. The essence of quantum computers are a type of computation that harnesses the collective properties of quantum states, such as superposition, interference, and entanglement, to perform calculations. This means that they are able to make extremely accurate and fast calculations and predictions.
Where is Quantum computing being utilized, since it is such an innovating technology? The ministry of defense, known as MoD , is partnering with Orca computing, using Orca’s infrastructure in combination with technology owned by the government. In the words of Richard Murray, chief executive of Orca Computing "Our partnership with MoD gives us the type of hands-on close interaction, working with real hardware which will help us to jointly discover new applications of this revolutionary new technology."
The MoD’s goal is to accelerate the understanding of quantum computing , in addition to harnessing a promising, valuable asset for the future. Although this is very new and still considered a gamble, it serves to show how new technology is being implemented and used in different ways.
